Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there lived a clever fox. The fox was known throughout the forest for his wit and cunning. One sunny morning, the fox came across a farmer who had left a large basket of grapes on the ground. The grapes were green and looked quite sour.

The fox, being quite hungry, approached the basket with great interest. He sniffed the grapes and licked his lips. However, as he tried to reach for them, he found that the grapes were just out of his reach. The branches were too high, and he was too short.

Feeling frustrated but not wanting to admit defeat, the fox said to himself, "These grapes must be sour anyway. I do not need them." And with that, he walked away.

The moral of this story is that sometimes people refuse to try something because they do not want to admit that they cannot achieve it. This is known as sour grapes mentality.
